چکیده

UNLABELLED Improvements in phacoemulsification technology and instrumentation and intraocular lens materials and design have enabled cataract surgery to be performed through incisions smaller than 2.0 mm in external width. This evolution has occurred over time, with new challenges arising at each step of the decrease in incision size. This article reviews the current trend of using increasingly smaller incisions to perform phacoemulsification. Specifically, each facet of phacoemulsification is briefly reviewed from a historical context and then evaluated predominantly from a current perspective to better understand the development of the microincision in cataract surgery. The goal is to help the operating surgeon recognize the potential benefits as well as the potential weaknesses of the smaller incision. Viscoless microincision cataract surgery

A cataract surgery technique is described in which incisions, continuous circular capsulorhexis and hydrodissection are made without the use of any viscoelastics. Two small incisions are created through which the different parts of the procedure can take place, maintaining a stable anterior chamber under continuous irrigation. Subsequent bimanual phacoemulsification can be done through these mi...

Optimizing refractive lens exchange with bimanual microincision phacoemulsification.

Bimanual microincision phacoemulsification entails the removal of the crystalline lens through 2 1.2 mm incisions. Infusion is provided through a separate irrigating handpiece, and phacoemulsification and aspiration are performed through a sleeveless phacoemulsification needle. We describe a technique for refractive lens exchange using bimanual microincision phacoemulsification. Capsulorhexis f...

Visual and Refractive Results of Cataract Surgery by Phacoemulsification Method in Patients with Keratoconus

Purpose: To examine the visual and refractive results of cataract surgery by phacoemulsification method in patients with keratoconus. Methods: In this retrospective study, the files of patients with keratoconus, who underwent phacoemulsification between 2008 and 2017, were evaluated. The intraocular lens power calculation formula was SRK/T. Post-operative visual and refractive results were anal...
